Half-Year Fellowship

The Climate Corps Bay Area fellowship program offers public agencies and community partners with a low risk, time-bound and cost-effective option for trying out high caliber new talent.  Our Fellows are recruited from high caliber academic institutions and programs, and then trained and mentored by SEI's Climate Corps team in their role as they address climate resiliency projects/ programs. Currently we have Fellows who are recent undergraduate and graduate degree holders that are filling a true spectrum of roles, from green policy development to cutting edge solar power project design and engineering. The following is a thumbnail sketch of the Climate Corps program and relevant updates for half year Fellows.

Half-Year Fellowship Details

• Climate Corps not-for-profit partner participation fee for the full 10-month cycle is $27,000 (or $31,500 for for-profits.) For a half-cycle Fellow, the nonprofit and public agency partner fee is $17,500 (or $20,000 as the for-profit fee,) that takes into account the host of savings associated with the delayed start of your Fellow.

• We (Strategic Energy Innovations) serve as the employer of record, as program administrator and your Fellow's remote supervisor.  As such we handle all hiring, regular stipend payments and benefits for the Fellows, in addition to managing the Climate Corps college professional certificate.  While half-cycle Fellows wouldn’t be eligible for the Skyline College certificate, they will still accrue spring semester academic units associated with our program courses.

• Full cycle Fellows commit 1,500 hours of service for 10-months, apart from program training hours and personal time off.  The 2015-16 program cycle runs from August 31, 2015 through June 30, 2016.  The half-cycle program will run from January 15, 2016 (our monthly program training day) through June 30, 2016, and equates to approximately half (850 hours) of the standard total partner/ project service hours.

• All Fellows are required to attend monthly program training events that occur the 3rd Friday of each month.  

• Program partners must designate a staff member who will serve as their Fellow's site supervisor, meeting regularly (weekly) with the Fellow to help establish and then track progress on project / work scope goals.

• We strongly encourage program partners to approve up to 10% of their Fellow's site hours for relevant professional development and training activities (e.g.: job shadowing; informational meetings; low to no-cost seminars and workshops, etc.)
