Fuel Economy

America lags far behind most other developed (and developing) nations in our fuel economy standards.  This is a shameful state of affairs, brought about by the incredibly powerful automobile and oil lobbies and their effects on the national political process, as well as the apathy of people everywhere.  It is not enough to complain about prices at the pump.  It is time to make this a grass roots movement to increase our fuel economy standards, to force lawmakers to act.

“The technology exists today to make any vehicle – from cars to SUVs to pickups – get better fuel economy. But instead of putting technology to work, fuel-economy standards have stagnated since they were first adopted in 1975.”

So visit Working Asset’s ‘Act for Change’ website campaign to support bipartisan legislation in the US congress to raise fuel economy standards.
